汉密尔顿花园Hamilton Gardens

作为2014年度花园旅游大奖的奖项之一，2014国际花园大奖在法国Metz举行的国际花园论坛上揭晓，汉密尔顿花园（Hamilton Gardens）摘得桂冠，荣获“世界最佳花园"称号。
汉密尔顿花园此次摘得桂冠，源于其理念的独一无二。它以“追寻花园的故事"为理念，展示了世界各地不同的文明和不同发展时期的特色，将园林艺术与旅游产业完美结合。汉密尔顿花园（Hamilton Gardens）并未按照传统的植物园进行规划开发，而是以人与植物的关系为主题，共包含5个主题花园系列，总占地面积达58公顷。

汉密尔顿花园（Hamilton Gardens）位于汉密尔顿市南端，沿怀卡托河建造。它并未按照传统的植物园进行规划开发，而是以人与植物的关系为主题，共包含5个主题花园组合，总占地面积达58公顷。
天堂植物园组合（Paradise Garden Collection）中包括了代表中国、英国、日本、美国、印度和意大利的各色花园。每座花园自成一派，设计风格及主旨更是截然不同。
景观花园组合（Landscape Garden Collection）由布撒克林地（Bussaco Woodland）、汉密尔顿东部公墓（Hamilton East Cemetery）、回音岸丛林（Echo Bank Bush）和山谷步行道（Valley Walk）组成。这些花园最大程度地利用了自然景观，并展示了不同历史时期人们对理想景观的理解。
多产花园组合（Productive Garden Collection）全部都由实用性园林组成，其中包括毛利花园、香草花园、厨房花园和可持续后院花园。
栽培品种花园组合（Cultivar Garden Collecition）向您讲述花园中特别挑选的各类植物的故事，包括玫瑰花专区、山茶花专区、杜鹃花专区，还有维多利亚时期的花园鲜花专区。
然而这其中最迷人的当属幻想花园组合（Fantasy Garden Collection ），在这里您将感受到无穷无尽的想象力和天马行空的创意，并突出了“香气"和“时间"的主题。

蒂帕拉帕拉花园（Te Parapara）是新西兰首座同时也是唯一一座开设在公共场所的传统毛利花园。这座花园的一期工程是一座传统的种植园，里面种植了被毛利人用作资源或具有重要文化意义的各种植物，已于2008年正式对外开放。最后一期工程于2010年12月10日在汉密尔顿花园正式揭开神秘面纱。花园中最新展示的雕刻精美的构造物包括：一道相当罕见的被称为"台帕"（taepa）的木栅栏，三种传统式样的储藏室"帕塔卡"（pataka），一座被称为"瓦哈罗阿"（waharoa）的仪式大门，以及祭祖用的立柱"波"（pou）。

蒂帕拉帕拉（Te Parapara）曾经是欧洲殖民统治时期之前毛利人居住区原来的名字，如今这里已经变成了汉密尔顿花园。

在欧洲人到来之前，怀卡托中心地区的河岸上曾经整齐地排列着毛利人的种植园，因此怀卡托/泰努伊地区的园艺遗产对整个国家都具有重要意义。

在汉密尔顿花园中，蒂帕拉帕拉花园所在的位置曾经是一位名叫哈努依（Haanui）的著名的纳蒂怀勒勒（Ngati Wairere）酋长的家，而且这里还曾是举办丰收庆典仪式的神圣场地，因此相当出名。
